How You Can Help
Medication
Sharing your prescription medication or using someone else's prescription is not only UNSAFE, it's ILLEGAL. Learn more about how to safely dispose of medication.
Disposal
Always store your medications securely to prevent others from taking them, and properly dispose of medications that you no longer need. (GenerationRx)
Safe Driving
Teen drivers are less experienced and are more likely than older drivers to underestimate or not recognize dangerous situations. They are also more likely to speed and allow less distance between vehicles.
Be Smart
When lack of driving experience is combined with drug use, the results can be tragic. Car crashes are the leading cause of death among young people aged 16 to 19 years. (NIDA)
Learn more!Gateway Drugs
More than half of new illicit drug users begin with marijuana. Next most common are prescription pain relievers, followed by inhalants, which are most common among younger teens. (NIDA)
Say No
While some teens may argue that weed is safer than alcohol, research shows that teens don't typically use alcohol OR weed; they use both, often at the same time, a dangerous combination. (Partnership for Drug-Free Kids)
